Proportion states that two ratios are equal. Written as a: b = c: d, it means that the relationship between a and b is exactly the same as the relationship between c and d. In a valid proportion, the product of the extremes equals the product of the means (ad = bc). This property is the most powerful tool used to solve missing-value questions.
