A ratio is a mathematical comparison between two quantities of the same kind. It tells how many times one quantity contains another or how two amounts relate to each other. Written as a: b or a/b, ratios help simplify comparisons in an easy, universal form. For example, if the ratio of boys to girls in a class is 3: 2, it means that for every 3 boys, there are 2 girls.
