Matrices can be added or subtracted only when they have the same order. The operation is performed element-wise: corresponding entries are added or subtracted to form a new matrix. For example, adding [[1, 2], [3, 4]] and [[5, 6], [7, 8]] gives [[6, 8], [10, 12]]. This process is simple and intuitive once the matrix sizes match.
