Lesson
A Geometric Progression (GP) is a sequence of numbers in which each term after the first is obtained by multiplying the previous term by a constant number called the common ratio (r). For example, in the sequence 3, 6, 12, 24…, each term is double the previous one, so r = 2. The structure of a GP models situations involving repeated multiplication, such as population growth, compound interest, and exponential change.
Learning objectives
Understand common ratio in the Geometric Progression chapter.
Connect the idea with formulas, examples, and exam-style questions.
